I am a PostDoc at Computer Security Group, where I research the security boundaries between hardware and software. I successfully defended my PhD at ETH in July 2024 after finishing all the coffee available in our building — please do not worry, since then it has been replenished.
My PhD research has been focused on principled approaches to DRAM security. With my projects, I showed how Rowhammer mitigations can be designed in a secure way, how you can obtain Rowhammer bitflips on RISC-V systems, and how research compares to state-of-the-art DRAM chips. As a side project we also demonstrated that you could travel for free across Switzerland.
Still, my interests span very different areas, such as microarchitectural attacks, reverse engineering, APT and software vulnerabilities, just to name a few. Other than computers, I don’t only enjoy food – as a brave Italian – but also climbing and various types of art. You might spot me playing guitar around.
